Fasting, Ketosis & Metabolism
Fasting changes the way the body obtains and uses energy. As glucose availability decreases, metabolism shifts towards stored fat and the production of ketones.**
This transition creates the conditions for adaptation, self-regulation and the induction of the body’s self-healing process. Its timing and effects vary according to each person’s history, physical condition and metabolic state.

Guided Experiences
Carefully structured fasting experiences with individual guidance, observation and support.
First-hand Accounts
Personal records describing different fasting experiences, metabolic responses and changes observed over time.
Research & Sources
Studies, books and reference materials concerning fasting, ketosis, metabolism and self-regulation.
Who Can Fast, and for How Long?
The suitability and duration of a fast depend on the individual’s health history, nutritional status, metabolic condition, medication, previous or current treatments and reason for fasting.
Fasting may be unsuitable in some circumstances, while other situations require clinical assessment and qualified medical supervision. A history of cancer or chemotherapy must always be evaluated individually together with the person’s current condition and treatment team.
Natural Health Fellowship does not prescribe a standard fasting duration. Each experience must be designed around the individual, with particular care given to preparation, observation, duration and refeeding.
